The Spirit of the Lord is upon me because he hath anointed me to preach the gospel to the poor; he hath sent me to heal the brokenhearted, to preach deliverance to the captive and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty them that are bruised, to preach the acceptable year of the Lord. (LUKE 4:18)
We believe that every Christian has a ministry. It includes “preaching” the gospel. Not only with our voices but most importantly with our lives. The Great Commission demands it. The Holy Spirit directs it. The gospel is the good news of Jesus Christ. It is the message proclaiming his holiness and his command for us to live above sin. It is the message of his blood and its power to cleanse from all sin and unrighteousness (1John 1:9). It is the message of the Comforter -– the Holy Spirit that abides within the heart of the believer and empowers him to be a witness of the light of Christ in this sin-darkened world. (Acts 1:8). The gospel is the wondrous message of deliverance from all that binds. It is deliverance from the world and all that is of the world, the lusts of the flesh, the lusts of the eyes and the pride of life.
We believe that not only is holiness possible but mandatory. Any thing less is a false “gospel” and is not the bible standard of Christianity.
We believe in being filled with the Holy Spirit although, we do not believe that it is evidenced by speaking in an unknown tongue. The evidence of an indwelling of the Holy Spirit is a consistent holy life.
We believe in the unity of all believers. Only sin separates.
We believe that it is the Spirit of God that unifies and that we are to endeavor to keep the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace.
We believe that there is one body, one Spirit, one hope, one Lord, one faith, one baptism and one God. We believe that embodied herein is the principle of unity (Ephesians 4:3-6)
The Bible is our rule of faith. Christ alone is Lord. We embrace no headship other than our Lord, Jesus Christ. We acknowledge no headquarters other than the kingdom of God and no creed other than the Holy Scriptures.
The greatest and most beautiful musical instrument ever created is the human voice. It is both delicate and powerful. Intricate yet simple; this instrument of worship was designed by God alone. With our voices, we join in a symphony of praise, each having an equal part in the celebration and harmony of the worship of God the Father and our Lord, Jesus Christ.
Although there are numerous references in Old Testament scripture of various instruments being used in worship, we find no such reference in New Testament scripture. What we do find is that God’s instrument of choice appears only to be that which he alone created: the human voice.
Speaking to yourselves in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody in your hearts to the Lord. EPH 5:19
Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom; teaching and admonishing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord. COL 3:16
We bow not just our heads and hearts but our knees as well, in an attitude of reverence, respect, humility and homage to God.
For this cause I bow my knees unto the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ . EPH 3:14
[Jesus] kneeled down and prayed. LUKE 22:41
O come let us worship and bow down; let us kneel before the LORD our maker PS 95:6
